Kinked fallopian tube, endoscope view. One of the two ovaries (white) is partly seen between the two surgical tools (metallic, lower left). Above the ovary is a kink (pink knotted area, centre) in its fallopian tube. This may have been caused by a condition such as endometriosis, or adhesions to the surrounding tissues. The treatment depends on how badly damaged the tube is. If the damage is minor, then surgery can restore the funtion of the tube. The fallopian tube's function is to receive the eggs released by its ovary, and channel those eggs towards the uterus. One end of the fallopian tube is near its ovary, the other end is attached to the uterus. This image is several centimetres across.
