Prostate tumour. Urogram (X-ray) of the pelvis of a 60 year old man with an adenoma of the prostate gland. The prostate is below the bladder (white, lower centre), it should be clear, but due to the adenoma, a benign tumour, it appears cloudy. Adenomas cause the prostate to enlarge (hyperplasia) and press on the urethra, the tube urine passes through, causing problems with passing urine. Prostate adenomas are most common in men over 50 years of age. Urograms are produced by injecting an X-ray opaque material into the patient's blood. The X- ray is taken after the kidneys have filtered the material from the blood and it has collected in the bladder.
