Cryonics experiments: polygraph equipment used to monitor an animal subject's vital functions during cryonics experiments performed in a garage at Berkeley, California. Cryonics involves freezing whole (dead) human bodies, organs or pet cats & dogs in liquid nitrogen to await the dubious benefits of a future thaw. Cryonicists argue that medicine in the future may offer a cure for cancer or the restoration of youth, and believe their methods allow patrons an opportunity to utilise any such advances. Conventional cryobiology methods for freezing organs (for transplants, for example) are plagued by problems of intracellular ice crystal formation, which destroys organs.
