Human brain. Side view of a healthy human brain. At top are the extensive convolutions of the cerebrum, of which the right cerebral hemisphere is seen. The cerebrum is the largest region of the human brain, where higher thought processes occur with the coordination of voluntary body activity. The cerebellum (lower left) is part of the hind- brain; it is also convoluted, and it coordinates muscle movement. At lower centre (white) is part of the brainstem which connects to the spinal cord. Blood vessels supplying the brain are seen, particularly in clefts (sulci) of the cerebrum. An average adult human brain weighs about 1400 grams, around 2% of the total body weight.
