Beauty perception. Composite computer image of the face of 15 attractive Caucasian women. This image is 2nd of three testing what constitutes attractiveness in women. Here, the 15 most attractive faces of UK women in a sample of 60 are combined into one face. Subjects compared this image with an average female face (see P870/084), and enhanced attractiveness (P870/086), which was preferred. Scientists conclude that beautiful faces do not have average features. Features which represent youthfulness and fertility are preferred. Beauty appears to have a biological explanation, which crosses cultural boundaries.
