Satellite retrieval. Robotic arm of the Space Shuttle Endeavour retrieving the Japanese Space Flyer Unit (SFU-1) on 13 January 1996 as part of Mission STS-72 (11-20 January 1996). At lower centre is the American Office of Aeronautics & Space (OAST) Flyer. SFU-1 had been launched by a Japanese rocket the previous year. It carried nine experiments, these being:- high-voltage solar panels, an infrared telescope, a magnetoplasma- dynamic thruster, materials and space biology, space plasma diagnostics, an exposed test facility, and three types of furnace. The OAST Flyer was released by the shuttle on 15 January and recovered two days later.
