Nuclear facility, Iraq. Satellite image of the Al Qaim nuclear facility in Iraq, 380 kilometres northwest of Baghdad. This facility was involved in the production of refined uranium ore from 1984-1990 but was completely destroyed by aerial bombing during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. However, this image suggests that the facility has been rebuilt and could mean that Iraq is secretly stockpiling uranium. Image taken on 18 December 2000 by Space Imaging's Ikonos satellite.
