Domestic robot. Helpmate domestic robot delivers food in a hospital. The Helpmate moves around independently. After its departure point and destination have been programmed into it using a simple keyboard, the robot uses a map of the building stored in its memory to determine its exact route. Any unexpected obstacles in its path can be detected by high frequency sound (ultrasound) sensors and a video camera. Doors and elevators can be opened and operated by radio signals from the robot. As well as delivering food, the robot can also carry medical records and pharmaceutical supplies. This robot can reduce the workload of medical staff.
