Chemical plant used to produce ethene by cracking natural gas and oil. The cracking process may be thermal or catalytic and involves splitting up a larger molecule such as ethane. Ethene is a colourless flammable gas that is manufactured in larger quantities than any other organic chemical. It is used in innumerable chemical processes including polymerisation into plastics.
