Chemical weapons disposal. Container of a chemical agent arriving via conveyor belt at a guillotine device. The device will puncture the container and suck the gas into a furnace for incineration at 1500 degrees Celsius. Photographed at the US Army's Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility, Utah, USA. The facility was built to destroy the US chemical weapons stockpile, in compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention. The facility started work on August 22, 1996. When the destruction of the stockpile is complete (scheduled for 2007), the facility will be dismantled.
