CCTV can act as a deterrent to criminals, and increases feelings of safety and security in a community. If security guards are monitoring the images from a camera, they can act on suspicious behaviour and possibly prevent a crime from occurring. If a crime does occur, footage from a camera can be used to prosecute criminals.
