Typical biometric data can be obtained from a person's fingerprints, iris, retina, voice pattern and DNA. Identity cards are able to store biometric data enabling the user to gain entry to secure premises. Although biometric information is unique to the individual, this does not prevent the identity being stolen and used for criminal purposes.
