Du Pont 2.5-metre (100 inch) telescope at the Las Campanas observatory, Chile. The telescope is used to make observations at optical and infrared wavelengths. The high altitude (2300 metres) of Las Campanas, and the clear air above it, make the site an ideal location for making astronomical observations. The telescope is operated by the Observatories of the Carnegie Institution of Washington (OCIW).
