False-colour perspective view of Gula Mons, Venus. This image was constructed using plan-view data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft, and was enhanced and coloured by a computer using Magellan radar altimetry and previously-gathered photographic information. Gula Mons is a 3km high volcanic feature in the northern hemisphere Eistla Region of Venus. This view is looking north-east from a viewpoint 110km south-west of Gula Mons at the same elevation as the summit. The side of the volcano and the terrain surface for hundreds of kilometres around are characterised by massive radar-bright lava flows.
