Viking Orbiter photograph of Phobos, one of the two moons of the planet Mars. The picture shows the large Stickney crater, 10km in diameter, at left. A network of linear grooves, 100-200 metres wide & 20-30 metres deep, radiate around the moon from the crater. These grooves are thought to have arisen during the impact event that shaped the Stickney crater. Phobos is the innermost & larger of the two Martian satellites; the other is Deimos.
