Bubble nebula shaped by stellar wind, Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image. The bubble-shaped nebula is at far left. It consists of gas and dust that has been shaped by the impact of a strong stellar wind (a stream of fast-moving particles) from a hot, young star. This bubble nebula is named N44F. It is around 35 light years in diameter, and is found some 160,000 light years from Earth in the Large Magellanic Cloud (a dwarf galaxy near our own), in the Dorado constellation. This image, from Hubble's WFPC2 instrument, shows emissions from hydrogen (red) and sulphur (blue). It was taken in March 2002.
