Stars. Optical image of stars in the constellation Ursa Major, the great bear. North is at top. These three stars form the handle of the group known as The Plough, or Big Dipper, part of Ursa Major. From lower left to upper right they are: Alkaid (Eta Ursae Majoris), Mizar (Zeta Ursae Majoris) and Alioth (Epsilon Ursae Majoris). Mizar is a double star, and its companion (Alcor) is seen just to its left.
