Alien planet. Artwork of the surface of an alien planet orbiting a red dwarf star (upper right). This is a small, cool star that produces far less energy than the Sun. Due to its size, planets will be much closer to the star than those of the Sun, making the dwarf star appear large in the sky. Despite the proximity, the star would not appear very bright, and surface features (such as the dark starspots) would be evident. As red dwarf stars emit hardly any blue light, the sky would appear dark, as red and orange light is hardly scattered by an atmosphere. This planet is tidally locked to the star, so one hemisphere has permanent daytime, and the other permanent night.
