Sagittarius Dwarf Irregular Galaxy (SagDIG), Hubble Space Telescope image. This is a small galaxy that lacks the definite structure and shape of larger spiral or elliptical galaxies. Its stars appear blue here, contrasting with the brighter and yellower foreground stars, which are in our own galaxy. SagDIG lies around 3.5 million light years from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. This image was taken by the Advanced Camera for Surveys on the HST on 18th August 2003.
