Carbamoylsarcosine amidase enzyme, molecular model. This enzyme catalyses the chemical reaction that converts the chemical N-carbamoylsarcosine in the presence of water to sarcosine (N-methylglycine), an amino acid. The other products of the reaction are carbon dioxide and ammonia. This enzyme (classed as a hydrolase) has been studied in Arthrobacter soil bacteria. It is a tetramer, consisting of four polymer chains (each a different colour here). It contains a total of 264 amino acid residues.
