XF-92A delta-wing aircraft, on a flight from NACA's High-Speed Flight Research Station, Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA. This aircraft was developed by Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation (Convair) and used to test the new delta-wing concept. It was powered by an Allison J33-A turbojet engine with an afterburner. It flew from 1948 to 1953 with US Air Force, and then for six months in 1953 with NACA (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics). It was the USA's first delta-wing aircraft. It had a length of 13 metres, wingspan of 9.55 metres, and speed of 1160 kilometres per hour. Photographed in 1953.
