Skin reduction surgery. A 49 year old man showing scars remaining twelve weeks after surgery to reduce excess skin following extreme weight loss. This man had bariatric surgery, initially a gastric balloon replaced later by gastric bypass. He lost about 70kg over one year and was left with a large apron of excess skin (see SPL image C016/7165 for comparison). The skin removed weighed more than 12kg.
