Herald Square. 1921 view looking north-east over Herald Square, New York City, USA, with trams, cars and crowds of pedestrians. This square is formed by the junction between Broadway (left), Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas, right) and West 34th Street (running left to right, foreground). It is named for the New York Herald Building (centre), erected in 1895 and part-demolished in 1921, with this southern part demolished in 1940. Tram tracks run along both West 34th Street and Broadway, with an elevated rail running along Sixth Avenue (constructed in the 1870s and demolished in 1939). Photographed on 11 November 1921 by the Wurts Brothers.
