Metamorphic rock. Sample of metamorphic rock with garnet (red) and sodic pyroxene (green) that have been partly transformed to amphibole, an inosilicate mineral. This results from the subduction of an old basalt rock at more than 50 kilometre depth, where extremely high pressure conditions are present.
