Autonomic nerve cells. Light micrograph of a section through human nervous tissue from the autonomic nervous system. This system controls all involuntary movements and reflexes in the body. The bodies of several nerve cells are visible as orange/brown masses. Nerve fibres ( Iaxons i) from these cells run along a Inerve tract i to each corner of the frame. Bundles of Iaxons i such as these form what is commonly referred to as a nerve. Nerve cells have several branching Idendrites i (not clear here) which serve as the cells' sensory receptors, while the Iaxons i are the output processes, leading to muscles, glands, or the Idendrites i of other nerve cells.
