Timurid tilework on a tower of The Citadel (Qala-i-Ikhtiyar-ud-din) Originally built by Alexander the Great but built in it's present form by Malik Fakhruddin in 1305 A.D. Conquerors Ghegnis Khan and Tamerlane fought beneath its walls and it suffered attacks by the Ghaznavids, the Seljuks, the Ghorids, the Monghuls, the Timurids the Safavids and others. Now managed by the department of Historical monuments of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism
