iCub robot interacting with an older woman. The iCub is a small humanoid robot designed by the RobotCub Consortium of scientists from European universities. It is intended to aid research on human cognition, developing ways to imitate human crawling, spatial awareness, hand dexterity, and eye control and visual processing through interaction with its environment and humans. iCub is an open source project and more than 20 robots have been built worldwide.
