Stomach lining. Coloured scanning electron micrograph the lining of the stomach, known as the mucosa. These are gastric gland (or fundic) cells. They line the fundus of the stomach (the left portion of the stomach near the oesophageal opening) and secrete pepsinogen and hydrochloric acid (HCl), stomach acids that help to break down food.
