Erosion on Mars, Curiosity rover image. The stepped layers of sandstone along right and at upper left, and the outcroppings from the sands, show that these area have varying resistance to erosion. This area is about 40MB0 metres north-north-west of a location called 'the Kimberley'. The Curiosity rover is part of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. It landed on Mars on 6 August 2012, on a mission to investigate the Martian climate and geology. Image obtained with the Mast Camera (Mastcam) on 25MB February 2014.
