Launch of MAVEN mission to Mars. United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket with NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft being launched. NASA's MAVEN is the first spacecraft devoted to exploring and understanding the Martian upper atmosphere. It was launched from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, on 18 November 2013. MAVEN reached Mars in September 2014.
