During Early Ediacarian, there were frondose-shaped life forms collectively named rangeomorphs. They are one of the earliest known multicellular life forms and lived in the gloom very deep in the ocean. This image shows them illuminated due to the surrounding glow of subterranean volcanic activity on the right and back of this scene.
