New Horizons map of the surface of the dwarf planet Pluto. At centre is the bright heart-shaped feature informally named Tombaugh Regio, which measures approximately 1,600 kilometres across. Its interior appears featureless, suggesting it is the sight of ongoing geological processes. New Horizons has spent nine and a half years travelling the nearly five billion kilometres to Pluto. Images obtained by the spacecraft's Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) between 7th and 14th July 2015.
