Severn Railway Bridge. 19th-century photochrom (photographic lithograph) of the Severn Railway Bridge across the River Severn between Sharpness (far bank) and Lydney (near bank) in Gloucestershire, UK. This wrought iron bridge was built between 1875 and 1879 to a design by George Baker Keeling. It was 1269 metres long with 22 spans. This view looks east across the river from the Lydney side. In the foreground is the Severn Bridge Railway Station. The Severn Railway Bridge was damaged by river barge collisions in 1960 and later demolished. This photochrom, dating from the 1890s, is from the Detroit Publishing Company.
