Indri (Indri indri) This is the largest of the lemurs, its body reaching 90 centimetres in length. It lives in the rainforests of north-eastern Madagascar, feeding on fruits, leaves and flowers. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Photographed in Madagascar.
