Leaves from an English elm tree ( Ulmus procera) infected with the gall mite Aceria ulmicola. Gall mites are members of the Arachnid group. They are extremely minute plant feeders, around 0.5mm in size. They feed on individual plant cells which then form the pustule galls on the upper surfaces of the leaves.
