Arm bones, 18th-century illustration. The arm bones are shown from both sides. The bones are the scapula and clavicle of the shoulder, the humerus (upper arm bone) and the ulna and radius of the lower arm. The wrist and hand bones are also shown. This illustration is from 'Osteographia, or the Anatomy of the bones' (London, 1733) by English surgeon and anatomist William Cheselden (1688-1752). It was the first full and accurate description of the anatomy of the human skeletal system.
