The Hindenburg airship caught fire and was destroyed on 6th May 1937, during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at Naval Air Station (NAS) Lakehurst, New Jersey, USA. Of the 97 crew and passengers on board 35 were killed, along with one member of the ground crew. The balloon was filled with hydrogen, a highly flammable gas. This chart was used by the board investigating the disaster
