LOUIS PASTEUR (1822-1895). /nFrench chemist and microbiologist. Pasteur (center, in skullcap and apron) testing his anthrax vaccine on sheep at Pouilly-Le-Fort, France, in 1881, by injecting them with anthrax after he had previously vaccinated them against it. All of the vaccinated sheep survived. Contemporary French engraving.
