Portable ECG monitor being fitted. Patient who has been fitted with a portable ECG monitor (holter monitor). The monitor, designed to be clipped to the belt, allows continuous electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring. Only three ECG channels are recorded, using the three electrodes shown. This technique is useful for diagnosing sporadic heartbeat disturbances that could be missed by a short examination with a fixed monitor. Photographed in the UK.
