The belfry at Kortrijk. This is what remains of the medieval cloth makers' hall, with at the top of the spire a statue of Mercurius, the god of trade. The two bell ringer statues, Manten and Kalle, are well known locally, and the belfry tower houses a carillon with 48 bells. Belgium
