Water Bistort, Buttercups, clover and other wild flowers growing in a species rich traditional hay meadow in Windermere, Lake District, UK. Over 90% of Hay meadows have been lost in the UK, due to farmers turning to silage rather than hay production. Most meadows have been ploughed up and reseeded with monotonous Rye Grass, with a subsequent huge loss of biodiversity.
