A set of tuning forks. When struck against a surface, the tines of the tuning forks vibrate at a known frequency. Each specific frequency corresponds to a note in the scale, against which instruments may be tuned. Here the longest fork sounds middle C' or C4 (256 Hz), the shortest sounds C5, an octave higher (512 Hz).
