Sea snails scavenging dead jellyfish. Finger plough shells (Bullia digitalis) eating a dead Portuguese man o' war (blue bottle, Physalia physalis) jellyfish on a beach. Finger plough shells are marine gastropod molluscs that scavenge on dead animals. They can pick up the scent of decaying animal matter from a large distance away and converge from all directions to feed. The Portuguese man o' war is not a true jellyfish, but a marine hydrozoan siphonophore colony. Photographed in Wilderness, Western Cape, South Africa.
