Liver X receptor agonist drug molecule. Molecular model of the liver X receptor (LXR) agonist drug GW3965. This drug interferes with the function of certain nuclear receptors, proteins that enable gene expression. Liver X receptors (LXRs) are important regulators of cholesterol, fatty acid, and glucose homeostasis. The molecular formula is C33.H32.Cl2.F3.N.O3. The atoms (spheres) in this model are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), chlorine (pale green), fluorine (green), nitrogen (blue, not visible) and oxygen (red). Like other LXR agonists, GW3965 is being studied in murine (mouse) models of atherosclerosis, diabetes, anti-inflammation, and Alzheimer's disease.
