Woman of Fecamp. Like the serre-tete of le Havre; this one too is decorated only to the temples. She wears a cape with hood; and stands in the port. In the background on the hill is the church of Notre-Dame-du-Salut. Grisettes; usually women working in garment or fabric industry; were so called for their grey (gris) clothes. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's 鈥楥ostumes des femmes du Pays de Caux;' 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats; the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
