Nazca; Peru; Chauchilla Cemetery; tomb. The uncovered tomb shows two pre-Columbian mummies and several skulls and long bones. The mummies may be 1500 or more years old and were preserved by filling their body cavities with cotton; and they were placed in the direction of the rising sun. The mud brick walled tomb would have been covered over with an earthen cover. Photo 2011.
