Wearing his hat advertising France-Soir and Paris-Presse is an old newspaper seller in cafe Le Saint-Germain in Rue du Bac. His money bag has the distinctive lettering of Le Monde. He had his patch where he would circulate in the evening selling newspapers to the clientele in cafes and would return later on his round to sell to new customers. In 1965 Paris-Presse was taken over by France-Soir. Cafe life in Paris was rich with entertaining events in the evenings, especially on the last Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month when people had been paid. Fortune tellers, poets selling their work, conjurers, musicians would all circulate round the cafes. Rue du Bac, 7e arrondissement, St-Germain-des-Pres, Paris, France, February 1966.
