Lady Suffolk, the celebrated trotting mare, and her rider, Albert Concklin as they appeared on the Beacon Course, Hoboken, N.J. on the 12th July 1843. Lady Suffolk, who inherited the size and colour of her ancestor messenger, brought the mile record down to 2mns 26.5secs, trotting against the clock at Hoboken. She was then a 10 year old. She trotted another 11 years, latterly in harness. The History of Horse Racing by Roger Longrigg, page 240.
