When an aeroplane owned by Air Service Training Ltd , of Hamble Aerodrome , Southampton , crashed into a tree in Oaken Lane , Claygate , Surrey , the occupants , Mr R C Berlyn an ex - officer of the RAF and Mr W E Creek , wireless instructor of the school , had a remarkable escape .
