Children buy their own breakfasts on the way to school , at a farthing each ! . Children , cold and hungary , can buy their own breakfasts for a farthing on their way to school at the Salvation Army ' good will centre ' in Cirencester Street , Paddington . About 250 children a week are served at the centre , most of them from homes where there is no breakfast at all . The children are given plenty of hot cocoa , bread and jam and porridge .
